the body knows what the mind doesn’t
Language is rational, trauma is not.
Trauma is pre-verbal.
Language doesn’t reach the deepest imprint of experience; it has a cap, a limit.
Experience goes beyond words; it goes through the senses of the body and the nervous system (breath, touch, smell, etc.). And it is through the body that one can connect, feel, and heal. It’s on our skin where unexplainable experiences are etched, where words don’t reach.
“The trauma activates the right hemisphere of the brain, the result is: instinctive, emotional, visual, spatial, and tactile. And it deactivates the left hemisphere, the area of Broca in the frontal lobe, the region responsible of the language”.
