conceptual description of the artwork:
The past and present fused into a single fabric, two times in an instant. Two weaving techniques from the past redefined in the present: vertical loom and Paracas ring technique. Despite the passage of time, the past is present as the origin of two elements, as a binary origin.
Using ancient weaving techniques to mold and give them a new meaning. To move beyond the evident flatness of vertical loom weaving and transform the fabric into a three-dimensional volume. Warp and weft that hold their own roots, which, depending on the material used, allow transparency within the fabric beyond the color. The same color tone, dark gray, to glimpse the passage of light of the same tone, the same technique but different materials.
The ancestral wisdom of the Paracas culture mantles, where the ring technique was found on the edges of their fabrics. In this traversed fabric, the pink wool yarns have also been woven on the edges using the technique but giving it a different twist in sensations and touch.
A fabric laden with redefined meaning that originated from two elements, a binary transience that gives rise to a set of threads that breathe and pulse, evidencing a unique harmony.
materials used: cotton threads, alpaca fiber, sheep wool, and copper threads
dimensions of the artwork: 50cm. height / 30cm. width / 25cm. depth
